Our federation — International Diving Federation

Federation

International Diving Federation is a worldwide diver training federation, founded in 2015 by four Polish diving instructors.

International Diving Federation runs training on every continent, and its programmes cover recreational, technical and cave diving, freediving, CCR rebreathers, junior diving, adaptive diving for people with disabilities, and programmes for the emergency services.

Compliance with standards

International Diving Federation training programmes comply with the European standards for recreational diving:

  • EN ISO 24801-1, -2 and -3 — requirements for recreational scuba divers at successive levels
  • EN ISO 24802-1 and -2 — requirements for scuba instructors

In practice this means that an International Diving Federation certification describes the same range of competences as the equivalent grades of other federations working within this system of standards.

Safety

Since 2016 International Diving Federation has been an official corporate partner of DAN — Divers Alert Network, an organisation working on diving safety, research into dive medicine and assistance in diving accidents.

Certification

When you finish a course you receive certification as a plastic card with an individual number and a watermark, together with lifetime access to an electronic version.

Training path

International Diving Federation uses named grades rather than stars. The recreational path runs as follows:

  1. Open Water Diver — entry level, to 20 m
  2. Specialties: Nitrox, Navigation, Night, Perfect Trim & Buoyancy
